Introducing AXScout: Baseball Intelligence in Beta

AXScout was built with a simple goal: make baseball analysis easier to explore, compare, and act on.

Baseball produces a huge amount of information every day — team performance, player trends, expected starters, injuries, Statcast metrics, betting lines, and game results. The challenge is not finding data. The challenge is organizing that data into something useful.

AXScout is my attempt to do exactly that.

What AXScout Is

AXScout is a baseball intelligence platform focused on helping users understand MLB teams, players, matchups, and predictions through a clean analytics interface.

The site currently brings together several layers of baseball context:

• Team performance trends
• Player-level offensive and pitching metrics
• Rolling 7-day and rolling 14-day performance views
• Expected starting pitchers
• Injury report context
• Market odds and betting line data
• Rules-based game predictions
• Exportable scouting reports

The goal is to make AXScout feel less like a spreadsheet and more like a practical scouting and decision-support tool.

Where the Platform Stands Today

AXScout is currently in beta.

That means the core foundation is now working, but the platform is still actively evolving. The data pipelines are running, the main pages are operational, and the first version of the prediction system is live.

Current working sections include:

Dashboard

The dashboard provides a high-level view of MLB activity, including upcoming games, team context, probable pitchers, and data refresh visibility.

Team Trends

The Team Trends page allows users to explore team-level performance, including season metrics, recent form, offensive production, pitching performance, and weekly trends.

Player Trends

The Player Trends page focuses on individual player performance, including offensive and pitching metrics derived from available MLB and Statcast data.

Scouting Report

The Scouting Report page is currently the most developed part of AXScout.

It allows users to compare two teams across:

• Season performance
• Recent team form
• Rolling 7-day offensive and pitching comparisons
• Top offensive and pitching players
• Hot and cold players over the last 7 days
• Expected starting pitchers
• Injury reports

The page also includes an exportable scouting report, designed to help turn matchup analysis into a clean written summary.

Predictions

The Predictions page is now beginning to take shape.

The first version uses a rules-based prediction engine that considers team strength, recent form, starting pitcher context, injuries, and market lines. This is not yet a fully trained machine learning model, but it creates an important foundation for future model development.

Prediction tracking is also being added so AXScout can evaluate how well its forecasts perform once games are completed.

What Makes AXScout Different

AXScout is being built as a full-stack analytics product, not just a static dashboard.

Behind the scenes, the platform uses automated data pipelines to collect, transform, and store MLB data. The goal is to continuously refresh the platform with updated game data, team metrics, player metrics, injury context, probable starters, odds data, and predictions.

That makes AXScout a living product. As more data flows in, the platform becomes more useful.

What Is Coming Next

Several major features are still planned.

Near-term priorities include:

• Improving prediction tracking and model evaluation
• Adding stronger model performance metrics
• Expanding the prediction engine beyond rules-based logic
• Improving blog and article publishing
• Adding premium feature access
• Continuing SEO and launch polish
• Enhancing the Scouting Report export experience

Longer term, the goal is to move toward a more advanced machine learning prediction system that can learn from historical games, evaluate prediction accuracy, compare against market expectations, and improve over time.

A Note on Predictions

AXScout predictions are experimental.

They are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They should not be treated as financial, gambling, or betting advice. The current prediction engine is an early-stage system meant to help explain matchup signals and create a foundation for future model development.

Accuracy tracking will become more meaningful as more AXScout-generated predictions are scored after games are completed.

Why I’m Building This

I’m building AXScout because it combines several areas I enjoy: baseball, analytics, software development, data engineering, and machine learning.

It is also a practical way to turn raw data into a product that people can actually use. The long-term vision is to make AXScout a place where fans, analysts, writers, and technically curious baseball followers can explore the game through a more intelligent lens.

This is still early, but the foundation is now in place.
